Ever wish you had a well connected family member who could open doors for you at the flip of a switch? An uncle or aunty with inside connections to the corridors of power who could plead your case before decision makers. Someone who would make your business theirs and go to battle for you.
Some of us are fortunate to have such people in our lives but the sobering reality is we can’t have connections in every high place. Even if we know well-connected people, they’re not always available to pick our calls and frankly they don’t always want to be associated with our mess so they fob us off with excuses.
Not so with God. You might not know it but, all through 2020, Jesus has been busy pleading your case before God. Those ‘surprise’ miracles and blessings that came your way despite your inadequacies were because Jesus was busy interceding for you.
When that Pharaoh of a problem finally let you go in 2020, it was because He was advocating on your behalf (with plagues, if necessary). When the devil cornered and harassed you mercilessly with guilt over past sins and regrettable decisions, it was your advocate who stepped in and told the devil to back off!
Paul summed it up pretty nicely in Romans 8:34 (MSG):
“Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us”.
As my people will say, Jesus ‘carried your matter for head’ throughout 2020, even when you weren’t on your best behaviour. You see why you’ve gotta praise Him???

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Father, thank you for being my advocate in 2020. Thank You for speaking up for me, fighting my battles and defending me when I ran out of words. Baba, thank You for ‘carrying my matter for head’ in 2020!
