I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that public sector workers have been the real MVPs this year. I think it’s fitting for us to pause and thank God for these heroes who don’t wear capes but do amazing things (I’ll save the rant about their pay conditions till another time).
While I and my family worked from the comfort of our homes during lockdown, my mum and other frontline workers like herself were out there in the trenches looking after COVID-19 patients, a disease they barely knew anything about.
Shout out to teachers who held it down and kept our children going with enough work to ensure they don’t burn the house down out of sheer boredom.
BIG shout out to waste collectors who ensured our bins were emptied regularly while we all went on a crazy ‘Amazon Prime next-day delivery’ binge during lockdown.
If you’re reading this and you are a public sector worker, words are not enough to thank you for your sacrifice and courage over the course of 2020.
If you know a public sector worker, please send them a quick ‘thank you’ message today. Many have gone beyond the call of duty to ensure the fabric of society didn’t rip into shreds over the last 10 months.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Father, thank you for every public sector personnel who has been on the frontline of the war against this invisible enemy that has besieged us for most of 2020. Thank You for their courage and selfless service.
