Day 17: Thankful for Freedom

So many conflicts and protests have erupted this year amplifying the truth that still too many people groups are not fully free to live flourishing lives.

There’s still a lot of work to do but if we know anything about history, it is that human beings have come a long way. The pace of change is slow but today, I want us to be thankful for all the many ways the needle has moved on global/national/local scales to ensure we have basic freedoms.

I’m thankful for the freedom to dream and hope, even if my current circumstances are light years away from the future I wish for.

I’m thankful for the freedom to worship God freely and unashamedly. The very words I’m typing right now would be considered a crime in some parts of the world.

I’m thankful for the freedom to be me and not compare myself with others.

I’m thankful for freedom from legalism and self-righteousness.

Most of all, I’m thankful for freedom from SIN through Christ’s perfect work for me.

I’m free; so are you!

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Father, I am thankful for the freedom I enjoy through the sacrifice of your dear Son. Thank You for the freedom to dream and hope for better days despite current strain and discomfort.
