This one is quite close to my heart. I was that person who periodically complained about my jobs – it was either not challenging enough or too stressful that I was left spinning on my heels. But the longer I spend on planet earth, the more I realise that there really is no perfect job. Everyone is simply trying to make the most of what they’ve got.
With the acute economic depression hitting the world right now, I really have no right to complain about my job. At the end of the day, it’s paying my bills and giving me some purpose to my day. I wrote elsewhere in an article about how purposeful work is crucial to our wellbeing and satisfaction.
I know we all have grand and noble desires to save the world, cure cancer and end world hunger but feel like we’re tethered to a boring and monotonous job at the moment. I truly empathise with you but for today please just thank God that you have a regular pay check coming in. Millions around the world are currently drowning in a sea of furlough, redundancies and uncertainty.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Father, thank You for my job and the privilege to earn a living. Help me to keep serving faithfully and to maximise this season while I wait for better opportunities to come my way.
